Description

[EDIT] changed the overall colour to make it less... red

... this would make more sense if I posted it earlier oh well.

I'm still having school through December-January so it really doesn't feel like I moved on to a new year
(in fact I slept super early on the last day of 2014 because I was so tired x_x)

I missed out on a lot of drawing and keeping in touch with everyone on dA. I wish I could say I improved my skills but honestly I'm not sure. Just hanging in there while school controls my life.

I hope I can make it through the last stretch of my Polytechnic education, we're falling behind on our Final Year Project and it's seriously testing me mentally. I can't tell you how I felt on one of the days. Let's... just say I managed to hang on to an imaginary rope that was keeping me safe all this time.

Even if we managed to finish the project and graduate on time I'm still unsure of what I want to do after that. I know my parents want me going to uni but I have no idea what I want to study there. (because if I take Animation again they might teach the same things) I'm pretty sick of being such a schoolgirl all the time. (I always submit to the rules though so let's see how it goes anyway.)

So I'm still keeping the title as "See You Next Year!" (not sure if it refers to this year/next year/both) because I do want to stick around. I have these moments where I think about it but I hate how I almost gave up a while ago (the only place I reveal some of my inner thoughts is on twitter and I only have a few to reveal to) and almost forgot about what's still waiting for me, as well as how not everything revolves around school. Seriously, who does that.

Hope to see everyone on deviantArt progressing, no matter how little the progress.
As long as you try your best, that's really all that matters.

Have a meaningful 2015 everybody! :#1:

You need all the support you can get!! D8 Don't let school control your mind - it may take up the bulk of what you're doing, and it will definitely challenge you mentally... but never ever let it control your mind >w<;; I understand what you mean on being such a schoolgirl and following the rules. My classmates even call me "guai" (well-behaved) because I follow the brief of each assignment down to every detail SO MUCH that even they get irritated =w= Doing so may be good for our performance in school, but ultimately, what matters most is how we carry ourselves and make a mark outside of school. I know some classmates who aren't top-scorers, but they still manage to find work related to my course during the holidays. Amazing, right? (but then again, considering how shy we both are we don't usually search for work during the hols) Just tell yourself to get it over and done with, especially since you're pressed for time.

About learning the same things again if you study Animation at uni, that's kinda true...come to think of it, any course related to the creative industry usually teaches the same things regardless of level of study. (to quote Symon: "I learn the same things here as in ITE"). And that's why I don't want to continue studying Visual Communication (bah, just call it graphic design already >:U ) at uni level because from the modules I've compared, it is very similar to what I've learnt/will be learning in Poly. I even went the extra mile and compared the Animation modules at NTU to those of NYP, and they're really similar. The only difference is that it has more academic-based stuff (report/essay writing like history of art, issues, criticism, e.t.c.). The technical side really is the same as what you've learnt. I know two NTU animation deviants here, and they both never had prior experience in animation, and yet they made it in (both were from JC). One of them even told me that 90% of the students there were just like them, without prior experience. So that goes to show that even at uni level, the art/design courses are tailored to people who have had no prior experience. I'm not sure about Lasalle's degree courses, but it's probably the same. (typed in small text cos it was really long)

Maybe...hmm I'm not sure if I'm in the right position to say this, since I'm younger...but maybe you could do what I'm trying to do - finish off my Visual Comm diploma, then head on to uni to study Animation (a completely different course that is still related to the creative industry). Only difference is that it'll be the other way round for you XD Like my parents have said (and I agree with), you'll get experience from both fields. So if there're no jobs in one, there's always the other you can fall back on. Rather than focusing so much on one, and being unable to work when there're no jobs on that field (this was what I was concerned about too - another main reason why I don't want to study the same course at uni level). From what some of my lecturers have said, graphic design is considered to be one of the more prospective creative professions locally, so you might want to consider...? Then maybe we could both set up a studio and make our own productions, having experience in both fields 8D Oh well, a girl can dream lol.

Long comment is long @_@ but yeah, I'll be rooting for you! ;A; You're almost at the finish line, keep going!!
